Personal 
Dr Smith and his wife Jan have three children- Ryan, Eric and Lindsay. Jan is active as a volunteer with Hospice of Cincinnati as well as the SCPA. She is a member of the Good Samaritans, an organization which supports many patient care projects at the hospital. His oldest son Ryan is attending Ross University Medical School and currently doing clinical rotations in Chicago, IL. Eric graduated with a Masters of Accountancy degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH. He is a staff accountant at J.D. Cloud and Associates in Cincinnati. Lindsay is a senior at Centre College in Danville, KY. She played volleyball all four years and will graduate with majors in International Relations, History and French.

Dr Schuermann is married with 3 children. His wife is also a physician and practices psychiatry in Northern Kentucky. He grew up in Cincinnati in the suburb of Madeira where he attended St. Gertrude grade school and St. Xavier High School. He enjoys spending time with his family and coaches soccer for his 2 older children. He and his family are active members of St. Mary parish in Hyde Park. He enjoys running and has completed five marathons and several half-marathons. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys all forms of motor racing, Cincinnati Reds baseball and Notre Dame football. Prior to coming to Samaritan OB/GYN, Dr. Schuermann spent 4 years on active duty in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Knox, KY where he was the Chief of Women’s Health Services.
