Medications
Questions frequently arise over which medications are safe to use during pregnancy. While all medications pose certain risks and benefits, the following are generally considered safe while you are pregnant:
Cold Medications: Tylenol (acetaminophen), Tylenol Cold and Sinus, Benadryl, Sudafed and Robitussin DM.
Pain Medications: Tylenol, (nonsteroidals, such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) should be avoided). Please call the office regarding any prescription medication.
Antacids: Tums, Rolaids, Maalox. (Axid AR or Tagamet may be used in sever cases)
Laxatives: Milk of Magnesia, Fiber (Fiber-Con, Metamucil, Citrucel). Immodium AD may be used for diarrhea.)
Yeast Medications: Gyne-Lotrimin
Herbals: Herbal supplements are NOT regulated by the FDA. Many of them are NOT SAGE to take during pregnancy. Talk with one of the doctors if you are currently on a supplement. Common ones to avoid include black or blue cohosh, dong quai, ma huang, licorice or senna.
