Schedule of Visits
Typically, most patients will have between 12 and 14 visits with the physician before delivery. Early in the pregnancy, you will have monthly visits. Visits increase to every two weeks, and then to every week as we approach your due date. Special circumstances such as twins, diabetes, or postdates (going past your due date) may require more frequent visits.
Prenatal blood work is done between the 12th and 16th weeks of pregnancy, depending on the optional testing that you may choose to have done. Additionally, all patients are screened for diabetes at 24 to 28 weeks. Your ultrasound (complete with take-home pictures) is usually completed around 20 weeks. A Beta Strep culture is obtained at 36 weeks.
Obstetrical patients will have the opportunity to meet and discuss their pregnancy with all of the physicians in the practice. All physicians are available to assist in your care. The physician "on call" will be the one to deliver your new baby.
